Hiking in Cambodia: Footage from Phnom Aoral Wildlife Sanctuary

Phnom Penh may not be very green, but the same cannot be said of the countryside. With Valentina Mimiyeva as the guide, this eleven hour excursion (don't worry, you're not hiking the entire time) led me through the Phnom Aoral Wildlife sanctuary to various waterfalls and swimming holes. With plenty of breaks, and pauses for photography, this hike was perfect for both beginners and long time outdoorsmen. At a price of only $35, the trip included transportation from Phnom Penh and back, along with lunch and refreshments. It even included a surprise cup of wine at the final swimming hole.

As someone who enjoys the outdoors, being able to go on a trip like this was a wonderful excursion from the hustle and bustle of the city. Accessible and affordable, I recommend joining in on Valentina's excursions when you're in town. A visit to Phnom Penh (or even a residence here) is not truly complete without exploring Cambodian beauty in the countryside.
